A Spot of Sun

Friday morning not-so-still life

Baking some zucchini bread with my little munchkin. Years from now I want to remember what I did with this cute little guy on a Friday morning.

Beautiful rooms to ponder

What do these pictures have in common? Not much. I've just admired them. Probably because
1- I want a chaise like this in my bedroom (plus the colors are perfect)

2- I have too many books and need ideas of where to put them (oh, can I have a pink couch?)

and 3- I really want a new fabulous light in my dining area and I like this one.

Hope you are finding inspiration out there, too.

2nd Grade Glossary

Rachel's school class made a big book about animals. Rachel had a few great pages including these:

But the really great part was the glossary included in the back. It was a great help in deciphering the entries. Some of my favorites include
"Centimeters: smaller than an inch
Enemies: don't like that
Inches: as long as your finger nail
Post: a thing that cats should scratch
Pounce: tackle, like Deanna's kittens that pounce on each other
Prey: food for animals
Snag: it can't kill big animals
Sumerians: people from Sumeria"

Spring Snow

Snow cones that is. I know spring is here when the snow cone machine comes out and the sign goes up.

P.S. This picture is obviously not from today; it's 2 weeks old. Today it really was all spring snowy, at least 4 inches!

Throwing Rocks

Andrew loves to throw rocks. It's in his blood. His dad taught him everything he knows. Our first visit to Thanksgiving Point this spring supplied ample opportunity.

He was a happy boy!

MaLM -- Why I love my nose

Recently I have gained a new fondness for my nose. Why, you ask. Well, let me tell you.

My eyes are wonderful, I love to see, but they also look at things they shouldn't occasionally.

My mouth is great, too. I love to talk and eat. But it can get me into trouble also. It eats things it shouldn't and says things I'd rather not have said.

My ears give me the sound of music and my loved ones' voices, but also listens to things it shouldn't at times.

But my nose, it smells. It smells the sweet fragrance of spring flowers, the cut grass of a hot summer day, the fresh rain, gooey chocolate chip cookies, fresh, juicy fruit, the salty wind from the ocean, new born babies and so much else. And guess what, it never gets me in trouble!

A nose is a good thing, I think.

Spring Soccer

Dawn and Scott have both started up Spring soccer. They each had two games and many cancelled practices or games due to the lovely snowy weather. Here are a few highlights.

Dawn is a true hustler. She is always where she is supposed to be and running to help out.

Scott's first game he had 6 of these:

Followed by 6 of these:

Ha ha ha, kids are so great!

Rachel's Gymnastics

Rachel decided to take gymnastics this year instead of soccer. She has really enjoyed it. Monday was her last day and a parent day. Being maybe our most accident prone child, we were a little worried about how she'd fare in gymnastics. We were delighted with how well she did, especially on the beam. You'll have to take my word on that since our battery died. She was at the top or near the top of her class. Hopefully that will translate into fewer scraped knees and teary eyes.

Pretty Dining Rooms

I would love to eat my breakfast of yogurt parfait in any of these dining nooks. Aren't they gorgeous?

Happy Birthday Charity

Oh, our sweet girl isn't really a baby anymore. I was totally excited for her birthday until Matt pointed that out to me. Then I was a little bummed. I loved Charity's first year. She was so sweet and beautiful and lovable. I'm sure she will be in her second year, too. But you know, she won't be a baby.

She had a great time, dove right into her cake and loved her little walker/stroller. It was a great success.

Jewelry Box Cake

Who can find a a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

A few weeks ago I made this cake for a Relief Society birthday party cake decorating contest. It was a nightmare. It looked easy, but the lid kept falling apart, the sides kept tipping over, blah. I'm glad it's over.

Can you believe I won? I did, out of two entries! Ha ha. At least I won a fabulous prize! a gift certificate to Panda Express.

Then, as a double bonus, I gave it to my friend and her sweet new baby, Anne.

New links

I know about family blog roles. You skip them (at least I do). So I've added a few of my current favorite blog links. Check them out if you have a minute or two. I think you'll love them, too.

Snow, snow go away.

Don't come back until November! I'm ready for this. . .
