At Newport Beach, we took Charity out each day under cover of a brand new shade canopy. She never saw the sun, or so we thought. She was also bundled up against the ocean breezes that can be a bit cool in the shade. This much of her face is all that was visible.
And she was a little bit sunburned! We didn't sunscreen her up because she never saw the sun. In the shade the sun still found her and kissed her sweet, innocent baby cheeks.
The next day and through the week we lotioned her up really well and she stayed pure and white.
So beware. All shade is not created equal; the sun cannot be withheld.
