Our No-Shopping Experiment -- Part 3

I went to Target to get diapers, we were out. They are a necessity. I bought a package of 75% off caramels. I love caramels. It didn't even occur to me that I wasn't supposed to be shopping. I also bought a gravy boat on clearance. It is white and cute, and so it was a necessity because my current glass one has a crack in it.

What, you don't have a gravy boat, and you are okay? Who wouldda guessed?

My experiment is really not going well. I think I'm going to postpone my experiment until the last 2 weeks of January and first two weeks of February. Wait, will that interfere with Valentine's Day? What four weeks are the least likely for me to want to shop?

March, you don't have any Birthday's, no big holidays (unless you love decorating for St. Patricks Day).. . that would leave you with the first 2 weeks in April to buy cute Easter stuff. I think March is a good month! Lets organize your scrapbook stuff before then!

I think if your experiment/goal were to really work, you would have to ban yourself from stores like Target. Send your husband for diapers. Steer clear of any and all shopping except for the grocery store, like you said. Making a list and really sticking to it helps too. Target really does suck you in, though. We are getting a new Kohls (my favorite store besides Target) near us and I pity our budget when the building is finished. I also find that when we go shopping as a family (husband and I) than I spend a lot more because I have another voice convincing me that I need whatever it is I would have talked myself out of if it were just me. Though, a gravy boat would be nice...:o) Good luck!
