Christmas Colors

(Martha Stewart)

Perhaps it has to do with my list making love, but I love to plan for all sorts of future problems. Not silly things like retirement or the class party I'm hosting for Dawn next week, but what colors I should use on my future "pretty" Christmas tree.

We now have a "happy" tree, which is just that, very happy and very sentimental. But I'm planning for when I have TWO Christmas trees. I browse tree decorations, I look through magazines and blogs, I stay up late at night pondering it in my bed. How will I decorate it?
(Our tree)
I grew up with a Mom who loves red, so holiday decorating was uncomplicated, just red, red and maybe a little gold thrown in. I thought that was the only way. True Christmas colors. I told my mom I would always use real red and green. She just didn't buy it. And as moms often are, she was right. I want a tree that blends in with my decor which is decidedly un-red.

So what colors do I want? Silver, not gold. Burgundy and silver? Light blues and greens with pearly accents? Silver and white and crystal? A berry-ish pink (counterfeit red) with light green? The possibilities are endless.
(Country Home)

And that is the problem.

What Christmas colors do you dream of?

I am lucky to have two trees. One happy and one pretty. My pretty is all red and gold. Very me. I can see yours being like the first picture you showed in beautiful blues, greens and silver. Very you as far as I can tell. Anyhow, I hope you get your pretty tree soon!

I think your happy tree is pretty. I pictured something different when you were describing it. Matt found a good tree and it's cute! Our tree is a little droopy, but we love it :)

I agree, the blues are very you! I saw browns, golds and silvers and LOVED it! I would do it in a hearbeat. But for now, my trees are red, and silver. Yes, I have 3 little trees because we didn't get a big one this year!

My grandma always has a white tree. Well, it's a green tree with white lights, white beads, and all white ornaments. I love it, but I don't know if I could do that at my house. Maybe silver and blue for me.

I love the picture of your mom's tree. I have lots of good memories at that house. I especially love all the beautifully wrapped gifts under her tree.

I'm glad you stay up at night too so that I know I'm not the only one. My problem is---I love so many different kinds of decor.

However, right now I'm red (I guess more burgundy) and gold. I'm like your mom and love Red...not the bright red more the deep red.

love your blog.
